Aftercare

Aftercare Instructions

Remove bandage after a 2 to 3 hours. If you are headed home after your appointment you may

remove when you get home, but wash it immediately. Wash your hands, then wash your tattoo

thoroughly with Antibacterial soap and water using your finger tips. Pat dry with a paper towel.

Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor healing ointment or an unscented white lotion (Aveeno, Lubrid-

erm, or Eucerin). Do not re-bandage. Repeat 2 to 3 times daily until healing is complete (about

2 to 3 weeks). You may reduce the washing to once daily after the surface of the tattoo dries out

to a papery texture (several days).

THINGS TO EXPECT:

Your tattoo may be a little red, swollen, and tender for the next couple of days (Ibuprofen will

help). It may seep a little ink and fluid for the first day or two, so you may want to avoid contact

with your favorite clothes and sheets. After a few days the thin surface layer of the tattoo will

begin to dry out and peel thin, papery flakes, leaving the healed tattoo behind.

THINGS TO AVOID:

Absolutely no sun or tanning for at least 2 weeks, and afterwards always use SUNSCREEN! Direct

sun can fade the tattoo. No picking or scratching at the healing tattoo, even though it may itch.

No soaking the tattoo (pool, lake, bathtub, etc) for 2 weeks or until peeling has stopped. Also,

try to avoid friction against the tattoo as much as you can (from clothes, shoes, seatbelt, etc).
